It's finally here!

Pantheon picks up where The Utah Collection left off but by and large has a heart of its own. My great affection for the people I photograph is perhaps more apparent than ever here; the darker and more personal explorations left for other books at other times. This is an unbridled expression of love and fascination for those who are willing to step out in front of my camera and dance. It's a celebration of those who take off their clothes and wade out into the water naked, fearless and free. And maybe more than anything else it's just a way of saying look; look how beautiful we all are when we step back into our bodies and make them our own. Merry Holidays...

Here is my greeting card to all of you for the holidays '09. It's been quite a year with a passionate return to doing what I love most. This is an image from my work with Heather & Joe out on the Bonneville Salt Flats near the Utah/Nevada border. My first book, The Utah Collection, will be published soon and will include this image.

A major part of my creative process involves just picking up the camera and getting out of the house. The rest of it happens without a lot of fuss.

And to the rest of you, thank you for your continued interest in my work and for the kind words that lift me up and make me smile.

Some more pix of Becky from our shoot this week up in City Creek Canyon. Check out Becky's amazing handiwork in the scarf she's wearing: black laceweight merino wool knitted to perfection on little teeny tiny little needles. And of course to wrap things up Becky is modeling one of my fal collection Pussy Caps. The green scarf she's wearing in that picture is also her work.

 
  

I have to admit, it's amazing experiencing fall again after more than twenty five years in Southern California where it basically doesn't happen. Whenever anybody talks about fall colors now I will always think of Becky.

In the first picture Becky is snuggling one of my Pussy Caps and in the next she's modeling one of her handknit scarves. More detailed images of her extraordinary lacework will follow but for now this will serve as a reminder that in some parts of the country fall is in full swing!

More Alpacas...

Took some new pix of Jim & Deb's alpacas today. I sat down in the middle of the pasture and let them come to me. The horses wanted to play too and kept nuzzling and kissing my neck. Their black cat took a two hour nap on my chest. My soul is a little lighter this evening...

Evolution Of A Style...

 

I'm in my 26th year of shooting professionally and my 7th year of crocheting Pussy Caps. Almost since the beginning of the beanie cap adventure I've been throwing caps on my model's heads at the end of the shoots and taking pictures of them thus adorned. Here's a sampling of four of the models I've photographed in Pussy Caps during my short stay in Utah. from left to right, Becky, Ari, Eric and Heather.

Beauty is not in a tube of paint that washes us all down to the same color, nor is beauty a concept that can be sought after as if it were a prize at the fair. Beauty is in the authentic expression of self, a feeling of being at home in our bodies and the peace that comes from liking who we are.

I am so moved when I look at these models all lined up here together.
