Next weekend, March 11th & 12th, I'll be joining Lisa Souza for the Contemporary Crafts Market in San Francisco. I'll be hanging out at Lisa's booth crocheting my Pussy Caps and chatting up her visitors like I did last November at the show in Santa Monica. I'd love to see any of you who live in the Bay area over the weekend - come on by and say hi if you have a few minutes. You can download a free pass by clicking on one of the postcard icons here.
For those of you familiar with my crocheting and my Pussy Caps, you'll know that Lisa Souza is one of my primary suppliers of handspun, hand-dyed yarns. There's a level of artistry in Lisa's masterful use of color that's virtually in a league of its own and that constantly excites and inspires me.
In addition to her amazing color work, Lisa's spinning skills reflect an understanding of fibers that allows her to create yarns that are as functional and durable as they are beautiful. In short, Lisa is one of the great fiber artists working in the country today and I'm privileged to have access to her yarns and to call her my friend.
Below is a picture I took last fall of Lisa at her spinning wheel.
Next up is a picture of Lisa in her Joseph's Coat cashmere Pussy Cap. Lisa's Joseph's Coat hand-dyed, handspun cashmere yarn has translated into my most popular ever Pussy Caps and the last of this yarn is now being worked up into a beanie that will be for sale at the Mart in San Francisco next weekend. Yep, the Joseph's Coat cashmere era is coming to an end.
Here's a picture of me in my Joseph's Coat cashmere Pussy Cap at Rockefeller Center in New York. It's my favorite Pussy Cap of the seven I have in my personal collection. Until I'd held one of Lisa's handspun cashmeres in my hands I didn't really know what cashmere was all about. Well, I know now and if you'll pardon the pun, I'm hooked.
Below is a detail of Wild Things Angora, a pure angora fur yarn from Lisa's Rare Treasures Collection. See what I mean about her use of color?
Come and visit us at the show in San Francisco, March 11th & 12th. It's an exciting show featuring handcrafted and one of a kind artisan quality wares that will leave you drooling and reaching uncontrollably for your pocketbook. As for my part, I'll be crocheting and showing only those Pussy Caps like the ones below that are made exclusively from Lisa's yarns. Everything else aside, seeing all of Lisa's yarns all in one place is well-worth the visit.
Looking forward to seeing you there!
